What Is the Indian Chicken dish?

Have you ever eaten the Indian Chicken dish? Of sure yes but in a restaurant, However, today you will eat it at home when you finish preparing it by yourself. 

Indian Chicken is a popular Indian-inspired chicken dish. An exquisite curry sauce is prepared to spice the chicken previously marinated and seasoned with yogurt, garlic, and a mixture of spices typical of Indian cuisine and Pakistani cuisine called Garam masala. The word Garam simply means hot and masala means spices so Garam masala means hot spices. 

In fact, it is prepared by roasting and chopping some spices including coriander, cumin, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, and cardamom.


Indian Chicken Recipe

In this blog, we will give the recipe for Indian chicken which is divided into two parts: the marinade and the sauce. Let's see in detail what it takes to prepare it to perfection.


Ingredients for the Marinade:


  • 500 g chicken breast cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala (Garam masala is a blend of ground spices used in Indian cuisine)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 pinch of red chili powder
  • salt 


Ingredients for the sauce:


  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large white onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 300 g tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red chili powder optional
  • salt to taste
  • 200 ml of cooking cream
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • water if necessary


How to Make Indian Chicken?

Marinate the chicken

1. Start by cutting the chicken breast into small pieces of about 3-4 centimeters. They do not have to be uniform or perfect, but cutting them in the same size will help that all the pieces of chicken cook evenly and at the same speed.

2. Then mix the chopped garlic, ginger, garam masala, turmeric or curry, and chili powder in plain yogurt. Distribute this mixture to the chicken cut into small pieces in a bowl and mix everything. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least six hours or better yet overnight.


The cooking step

. When you are ready to cook the Indian Chicken, heat the oil in a large pan over high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken to the pan and cook until the chicken is nice brown but not fully cooked. 


Preparing the sauce for our recipe 


. To make the sauce, add the butter and diced onion to the pan where you cooked the chicken. Cook the onions until they begin to turn well golden and soft, then add the garlic and ginger and the rest of the spices.

. Add the tomato sauce and chili powder. Let the sauce simmer slowly for 10-15 minutes or until it takes on a deep red color.

. Now, beat the cream and sugar and let it simmer for a minute then add the sauce and let it simmer another time for 8-10 minutes.

. If you notice that the sauce has thickened too much you can dilute it with a little water or, if needed, with a little cream.


Serving

. As all of us know that all the Indian dishes are accompanied by rice, so also this dish is served with cooked rice. You can use Basmati rice or whole grain rice. Put the rice on a plate and pour over it the chicken sauce or serve it as you want.


Tip.

You can store this dish in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, however, before consuming it, heat it in a pan over low heat by adding a drop of water.
